Gaziantep: A Gastronomic Journey Through Turkey’s Kitchen

Gaziantep, often hailed as Turkey’s culinary capital, has been on our bucket list for ages. And let us tell you, it did not disappoint! We spent three incredible days immersing ourselves in the city’s rich food culture, and we’re still dreaming about the flavors.

Our adventure kicked off with a mind-blowing breakfast at Unal Restaurant. We devoured beyran soup, a spicy lamb and rice concoction that was the perfect start to our day. But the real showstopper was the katmer, a flaky pastry filled with pistachios and kaymak (clotted cream). It was like an explosion of flavor in our mouths!

We couldn’t resist going for another breakfast feast, this time trying the nohut durum, a savory chickpea wrap packed with flavor.

Of course, no trip to Gaziantep would be complete without indulging in baklava. We visited Koçak Baklava, a legendary bakery that has been in business for over a century. We were blown away by the sheer variety of baklava, from classic pistachio to unique creations like sarma and midye.

And let’s not forget the coffee! We tried both traditional Turkish coffee and a unique pistachio-flavored coffee that was a delightful surprise.

Gaziantep is a city that truly celebrates food. The people are passionate about their cuisine, and it shows in every dish we tried. We can’t wait to go back and explore even more of what this incredible city has to offer. Watch us introducing you all the 24 different types of delicious Antep food in our video!
