Unveiling the Ancient Wonders of Ephesus: A Journey Through Time
Our road trip adventure in Turkiye took us to the awe-inspiring ancient city of Ephesus. Buckle up, history buffs, because we’re about to embark on a journey through time!
Before we made it to Ephesus we also explored the House of Virgin Mary, located only 4km from Ephesus as well as one of Turkey’s most unique villages, Sirince. Sirince was one of two villages that was supposed to survive the Mayan apocalypse in 2012, but check out our video to see what else makes it special.
After visiting Virgin Mary’s House, we headed to Ephesus to see the library of Celsus, Ephesus’ amphitheater as well as its other ancient wonders. This place is straight out of a history book! We spent hours wandering through the ruins, imagining what life must have been like back in the day. The Library of Celsus? Mind-blowing! We could picture the scholars poring over scrolls, and the crowds gathering to hear philosophers debate. And the Great Theatre? We can only imagine the roar of the crowd during those epic gladiator battles.
We got super into the details too. Check out those intricate carvings on the statues and the reliefs – pure artistry! It’s crazy to think about the skill and time it took to create these masterpieces.
Of course, we had to visit the Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. While only ruins remain, we can still feel the power and grandeur of this once-mighty structure.
Beyond the big-name landmarks, we loved exploring the everyday life of the Ephesians. Imagine shopping in those ancient marketplaces or chilling in a typical Roman house. It’s like stepping back in time!
